Tribute to my grandfather

read this if you like. You dont have to reply or anything, feel free to do as you want. But I'm posting what I wrote to my grandfather, when I found out he passed aways this past weekend. This was also left inside his coffin today when he was finally buried. (however, no negative or stupid remarks towards this, show some maturity)

My Grandfather:

A restless warrior, but a servant of God, yet still a best friend, father, grandfather, and husband.
how can one man be so many things? No one may ever know the answer to this. However, I do know this though, this was MY GRANDFATHER.

On Friday, October 12, 1941, yeah Friday the 13th, my grandfather Victor Dotson gave his life to God. For more than 61 years he lived for God and God only. Through hard tmie, and many of times when there seemed like no hope for tomorrow he never let his faith go. Many times coming face to face with the devil, never agraid and not one time backing down. He stood his ground and preached his gospel. Even from his hospital bed, with just enough breath to barely breathe, he would preach the gospel to anyone who would listen. There was nothing in his lifetime that could make him lose his faith in his best friend, Jesus Christ or make him stop preaching the gospel.
Victor Dotson was a very loving and strong man. From town to town he'd preach the gospel of God. Touching many people's hearts when he would just walk into a room. Was it his beautiful smile, gracefullness? Yes it was, but it was more than that. It was his FAITH. He was as close to Heaven and God as we will ever be. He was always searching for an open heart, someone to listen and to take God into their lives.
He is the greatest man anyone in our family has ever known. A very loving husband, father, and grandfather. Whenever you felt down, he was the man to go to. For reasons unknown to us all, he could always bring a smile to your face. From teaching you how to play baseball, or teaching you all about the different birds, trees, bugs, and berry bushes that were in his yard, or within seeing distance, he was someone who was there to help you through life. no matter what kind of day he was having, he was a man who made sure his kids and grand-baby's knew he loved them very much. If it were a simple hello, to a "pattin" (something he did, he when patted us on the back.. and I mean hard lol), he showed his love in many different ways. It was almost a normal site to walk in and see him sitting in his recliner, or on the couch with his "baby". No, not my grandmother, but his dog! (when the dog moved in, you might as well say granny was moved out..haha). Three of the most important women in his life, were granny, baby, and lucy (yeah, his 2 dogs and wife..haha). He couldn't go a day without seeing his dogs, they were everything to him. It wasn't beacuse he was lazy, or couldn't get up and move around, but he knew he was king of that house and granny would wait on him hand and foot! And believe you, me, he took full advantage of it. "Hey Granny" you would always hear him yell, not because he was hurting, or helpless, but because he was hungry, or thought one of us grandkids were hungry and that was usually his excuse to just get her to cook! He wasn't always the innocent type either, always pulling a joke on someone. I can recall the time he knew the milk in the fridge was sour and old, an didn't say one word to me and let me turn it up and find out the hard way!
I would just like to say, all the memories everyone has made with him will nevre be forgotten. He has touched us all; family, friends, and people that have never even met him but only heard of him. He holds a special place in all their hearts. I'm not sad for the fact that he's gone, I'm only filled with job that he finally got to go home and sing with the angels. Well, okay...maybe not sing..but...preach! HaHa
We all should know that no matter what, he always saw the best in us all. Never judged us and most importantly always loved us!

In closing, I would like to say it was about time my grandfather spread his wings and flew, flew right into Heavens pearly gates.
Beacuse in my eyes and i'm pretty sure everyone elses, he was an angel. He'll always be my angel when I'm in doubt and need someone to go to. He'll never be forgotten, but always remembered for who he was. He is the greatest man I know, he is my grandfather.

Just being unconditionaly loved by him, has blessed me in more ways than I'll ever be able to explain.
